On our way home from Leiden we stopped to visit museum Voorlinden in Wassenaar. This is a famous museum of modern art although I have to confess I had never heard of it myself. After the visit I have to say that I was wrong not knowing about this museum. The grounds and garden are nice to walk in and the exhibition with works from William Forsythe was a good mix of traditional art and pieces that you could participate in as a visitor. There were 2 spaces that you had to traverse, one by swinging from one rope to the next without touching the ground and another one by simply walking though it while evading the countless swinging pendulums. What most pieces had in common was that there was something dynamic about them in one way or another. After the visit we scored some gifts in the museum shop, had a not very interesting sandwich and then headed back home. I recommend this museum, it appeals to both traditional art lovers as to those not ‘into it’.
