Exploring Leiden: The Rembrandt Days Experience

Our recent visit to Leiden happened to coincide with the Leidse Rembrandt Dagen to honour the famous painter Rembrandt van Rijn. During this event part of the city centre becomes the stage for actors evoking the 17th century. There are also many art exhibitions to visit. The actors, in 17th century costumes, perform activities typical of the period. Visitors can have themselves painted in the style of Rembrandt and there are some old games that can be played. After wandering through the centre and doing some shopping we needed a break to rehydrate. We ended up on the terrace of Floor’s, a coffee and brunch bar specialised in gluten free products. I had a gluten free beer which was OK but lacked a bit of taste. We also had white wine and some nice piece of cake to go with it. If you have gluten allergies then this is a nice place to come for a brunch or a drink with some cake with peace of mind.
