Today we tasted our first mini bell peppers harvested from our Auk mini plant. They are mini and we only had 2. So I cut the both in half and added them to our salad so each family member could taste half a mini bell pepper. The taste was good, as was the texture which can sometimes be a bit disappointing in normal sized run of the mill peppers. That said, to get a more useful meal out of them the harvest would have to quadruple in size. So far we only see one new bell pepper growing on the plant. We will see how things evolve from the harvest point of view. To be useful you probably need to plant bell peppers in each of the four slots available in the Auk Mini. It feels a bit like a minuscule biosphere 2 for now, experimenting with what and how much to plant. Looking at the Auk Mini from a distance it looks like a survival of the fittest match with the cherry tomato plant outgrowing both the bell pepper and chilli pepper plants by a wide margin. It could well be the bell peppers would do better if the tomato plant wasn’t around to compete with.
