BE Heroes: a Belgian David Bowie Tribute Band

Recently we went to a concert in the village of BE Heroes. This is supposedly the sole Belgian David Bowie tribute band. I mainly went because the proceeds were going to a good cause and I didn’t have high expectations. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The singer did a decent job to imitate David Bowie’s accent and voice timbre. This alone is a remarkable feat. A while into the concert I thought to myself that it is not surprising that there is no other David Bowie tribute band. To use a famous movie quote: “the SOB gave us an impossible job”. Still, as said, I was pleasantly surprised. Of course, some songs were done better than others but overall it was quite a nice concert. Only the odd song didn’t work somehow and in general the singer was not able to match Bowie’s drama and emotions but this is only natural. But in other songs, if you closed your eys, you could have thought it was really David that was singing. The other thing I thought during the concert was that you could fill a fair part of a party playlist with only David Bowie hit songs. Against expectations it turned out to be a fun evening out and an incentive to put on a Bowie record at home to listen to the man himself.
