Porto-Vecchio on Corsica

During our summer vacation on Corsica we visited a few villages and towns. One was Porto-Vecchio. This is a charming old fortified harbour town, typical for Corsica. Although it was less than a 100km away from where we were staying it turned out to be another day trip. Of course, we were taking it easy which meant we only left our apartment between 10 and 10:30 in the morning. This meant we arrived just in time for lunch. After a short stop along the road to go the toilet we parked our car and headed for the center to have lunch. The center is packed with restaurants and we ended up in La Belle Excuse based on Google reviews. It was a charming little place with 1 waiter only to serve all tables. He was quite friendly and somehow he managed not to keep any table waiting for long. The food was good and everything was served with a down to earth French flair. After lunch we walked around the town and then went to look for a place to charge the car. After that we decided to go to nearby Plage de Palombaggia which is quite famous. To be honest we didn’t like it much, way too crowded with almost no room on the beach to sit. Also the see was full of people. As the others didn’t want to go into the sea I decided to go in simply to avoid having come all that way for nothing. After half an hour we packed our things and headed back.
