This year we went on a vacation to Corsica again. We decided to drive and cover a lot of kilometres on our first day. We drove to just before Milan and booked a hotel in Bollate. This was a bit under 950km and driving was quite smooth, not so many traffic jams, those we saw mostly in the opposite direction which didn’t forbade well for the return journey. Even though there was not much traffic we did progress slowly through Switserland because of the many speed limits. We got through France and to the border of Switserland by 4pm but it would take us until after 9pm to reach Bollate. The other problem we encountered along the way were electronics issues with charging stations. In France we had to try several times to get a session started and in Switserland we had a similar problem, plus this company didn’t accept my charging card and I had to resort to paying with my credit card. But we did manage to get a decent charge up close to the border with Italy, enough to get us comfortably to our destination. In Bollate we stayed in hotel La Torretta where we had a family room. The room was nice and staff was friendly. Only problem with the room was the second sofa bed which was really too primitive to sleep on well. Breakfast was good but a bit limited, but still quite some choise for Italy. We also could park on a parking lot of the hotel without extra charge. The price we paid was acceptable. Good for a basic stop to get you through the night and on the road again the next day. Before reaching the hotel we had dinner in Bollate itself at La Situazione. We were very lucky because we could park right in front of the restaurant across the street and there was just one table left. Food was very good and cheap. It was filled with locals and we were the only tourists but the staff spoke enough English to be able to take our orders. Interior decoration is basic, which probably explains the prices. This restaurant obviously focuses on serving good food at a good price for returning customers. It served our needs perfectly, after a basic picnic lunch at a charging station and 10 hours in the car driving this was a good place to relax and get some real food into our system.
