Online Calculators

I have owned many physical calculators over the years and still have around 7 of them at home. I mostly use the HP15C Limited Edition or the HP50G. Whenever I need a calculator and I don’t have one I grab my phone but when I am at home at my desk I will always choose the HP15C lying there over my phone or my computer. Every computer has a calculator app so why not always use the computer when it is switched on. For me, the computer app only works well for basic calculations because then I can simply key everything in on the number keypad. But even then I find the hand-eye coordination less natural than on a real calculator. As soon as I have to do something more, even something as simple as using trigonometric functions I find the computer app really cumbersome, mousing around to click on buttons on the screen. Still better than nothing. And in case the standard app is not sufficient for your needs then there are many online calculators available as well. To name a few :

  • Calculator.net hosts a collection of calculators, going from the standard math calculators to special applications, like for example a bmi calculator
  • Desmos, a public benefit company to help everyone to learn math
  • Geogebra, an alternative to Desmos
  • Omni Calculators, similar to calculators.net with many calculators per topic, like physics, chemistry and so on
  • Calculator Soup
  • and many more
