Final movie of the trilogy. It took some will power to start watching the last movie. Luckily friends had told is that this one was not as bad as the second movie or we probably would never have watched it. Tot aan de Ijzer
Deze week Tot aan de Ijzer uitgelezen. Niet het boek van Max Deauville maar reeks van De Standaard uit 2014. Toen verscheen van 28 juli tot eind van het jaar een reeks die dag na dag Wereldoorlog 1 volgt van het begin van de oorlog tot aan de Ijzer op het moment dat de vlakte onder water wordt gezet. De reeks is nog steeds te lezen op de site maar als abonnee kon je de reeks ook downloaden als pdf. Dat leest wel aangenamer. In 2020 there was a lot of time to spend at home. We ended up playing quite some games with the family. Card games mostly. But the old PS3 also saw increased use and it started to fail with frequent black screens during playing. So I bought a second hand one to replace the defective one. Reading the book reviews I learned about Cybersexism by Laurie Penny and how this is a must read. Reading the bio on her blog it states Laurie Pennie is an award-winning author, columnist, journalist and screenwriter. She reported for the Guardian about the republican convention in 2016 where various alt-right characters united behind Donald Trump. I ‘missed’ this at the time and we were still wondering how Trump could ever win after having insulted, women, Mexicans and hispanics in general among others. A few weeks ago we decided to watch the trilogy as a family. I had only seen the first movie as a teenager in the eighties. The second one I hadn’t seen at all and from the third I had caught a few glimpses while zapping. Watching the first movie again after 30 years was a pleasant surprise. A few weeks ago we went for an afternoon walk in the sun and talked with friends about how they had watched Back the Future with the family some time back. Als iets in duigen valt wil dat zeggen dat het mislukt. Duigen zijn de houten planken die met metalen hoepels bij elkaar worden gehouden om een ton te vormen.
