Back to the Future
A few weeks ago we went for an afternoon walk in the sun and talked with friends about how they had watched Back the Future with the family some time back. As we are always contemplating which movies are good to watch as a family ourselves we took the tip and dug up the dvd box with the 3 movies and watched the first one 2 weekends ago. Pancake flipping
Imagine you want to sort a stack of pancakes by size with the largest pancake at the bottom of the stack, the next one on top and so on with the smallest pancake ending up on top of the stack. It may seem silly to you but this is a problem being studied by mathematicians. Als iets in duigen valt wil dat zeggen dat het mislukt. Duigen zijn de houten planken die met metalen hoepels bij elkaar worden gehouden om een ton te vormen. Vallen de planken uit elkaar dan valt de ton in duigen. In het kinderliedje zit Jan Huygen in de ton, met een hoepeltje erom, en de ton die viel in duigen. Zilver is beter dan Goud
In een competitie wil iedereen de gouden medaille behalen maar als er bacteriën bij betrokken zijn is zilver beter dan goud. Bacteriën gaan namelijk dood als ze in contact komen met zilver. Daarom worden zilverdeeltjes verwerkt in veel schoonmaakdoeken en in verven en coatings voor oppervlakken die bacterievrij moeten zijn. Gelezen in de wetenschapskalender van 2021.

The Lion’s Roar – First Aid Kit
Listened to this album again during the 2020 XMas holidays. Although from Sweden, these 2 sisters have a very American folk sound. I discovered this album after hearing the hit song Blue on the radio in 2012. I bought the CD and loved it. The other hit on the album is Emmylou which is certainly a good song but if I have to pick my personal favourites on this album then I would probably choose This old routine which is very melancholy and King of the World which is more energetic. Catalina
I am way behind the curve when it comes to updating my Mac OS. One reason is some bad prior experience with peripherals no longer being supported after upgrading. Sometimes it looks like people at Canon believe that 1 year is an acceptable life span for a printer. I have to say that the last couple of years it hasn’t been all that bad. My multifunctional is still working although for scanning I now have to use preview as the Canon utility doesn’t work anymore since High Sierra.
