Bonifacio and Lavezzi Islands on Corsica

On the second weekend we booked a snorkelling trip to the Lavezzi islands from Bonifacio with a catamaran. After searching a lot of searching we finally managed to book this via GetYourGuide. This is an easy service where you can search for all kinds of activities and make bookings and get all kind of information after you booked right inside the app. Price was OK and we shared the catamaran with a couple of other families, around 16 people in total were on the boat. The captain was also the guide and a volunteer could steer the catamaran while he had to adjust the sails. We headed out of the harbour by motor but after a few minutes he switched to wind power. There was some sort of deck in front where you could lie and enjoy the view. Some of the girls were lying there and soon found out why this was a bad idea as they were soon soaked by a wave. As it was hot this probably brought some welcome refreshment. Phones were put away after this incident though. We made 2 stops at 2 different islands where you could swim and snorkel and go ashore as well. There were lots of fish to see and if you got tired of swimming the boat also had a couple of boards that you could use to sit on and paddle. The round trip took about 4 hours in total and was fun. On the way back the sea got a bit rough and this turned out to be too much for at least one person on board that had to throw up. When we got back it was time to start the return voyage by car and to do some shopping for a late dinner at the apartment. Due to slow traffic on our way to Bonifacio we didn’t have a lot of time to visit the town. It has a fortress, typical of many Corsican towns but we decided not to spend 4 hours in the car again on another day just to come and visit Bonifacio.
