Musée d’archéologie d’Aleria

On our first real day on Corsica we did the necesary grocery shopping first so that we could have breakfast, lunch and dinner at our apartment when we wanted to. As we didn’t get up too early that took us to lunch after which we decided to go for a short afternoon visit to the archeological museum of Aleria nearby. This is a small museum + archeological site with some artifacts dug up on the island and old Roman ruins. Entry price is cheap and the museum is small enough to spend a bit of time looking at and reading about the artifacts. After the museum visit we walked around the site looking at the old ruins. As we had visited an archeological museum on our previous visit we knew quite a bit of what was on display already but some of the artefacts were nevertheless quite nice. The ruins are situated at the edge of the village and the walk from the museum lead along a pathway with a beautiful view of the valley and river below. Even with the trees on the site it was too hot to stay very long so headed back to our apartment around five to cool down in the airco. Considering the low price and what is on display in the museum I can recommend visiting this museum. It is a short history lesson that even kids with a short attention span can stomach.
