This week we went for dinner at Olivita in Leuven. This is a Spanish restaurant in the city center. Probably because we are in the middle of the exam period and there is soccer world championship ongoing there were not many people walking around in the streets and the restaurant was almost empty. As the weather was nice we decided to eat outside. This is just in front of the restaurant on the sidewalk so not a particularly charming setting. But as it is in the city center there are mostly only pedestrians, cyclists, scooterists and the odd public transport bus. So not exhaust fumes or a lot of noise to poison your food tasting. We took some nachos as a starter which came with a quite nice guacemole. As main dishes we had salad, shrimps and fried calamari. The food was reasonable and the price was certainly ok for the quality of food served. Service was very friendly and there is a wide variety of dishes on the menu so everyone should be able to pick something they like. Personally I found it bit too basic but it served the purpose of spending some time together as a family and allowing a short break from studying for the kids. I would only go back to try out their tapas, not for a real dinner picking dishes from their main menu.
