Harvesting Chilli Peppers in the Auk Mini: A Beginner’s Journey

Beginning of May the first chilli peppers appeared on my plant. They were small and green and this week they started to turn red so I am hoping to harvest them soon, all 3 of them. In the mean time a fourth chilli has appeared as well but that one is still green. If these chillis have the right kick and I can get a constant produce out of them going forward I might go for a couple of plants the next time around. The Auk Mini has brought us a useful harvest of Basil since it arrived but also brings a little closer to home what it means to grow food. The Auk Mini takes away most of the effort caring for your plants but you still have to learn your way around growth and produce of the different plants, what fits well side by side, how long they need to grow and produce fruits and so on. Of course, I neglected to read some of the tips on the Auk website. They have an article on the website about chilli peppers that recommends having only 1 pepper plant or maximum 2 in the Auk Mini. That probably explains our limited yield so far. At least now we know what to do different next time around. The moral of this story is of course: RTFM πŸ˜€
