Arboretum Wespelaar on Easter 2026

On Easter we got together again with the family for a lunch at home. In the morning we visited the Arboretum Wespelaar to look at their blossoming Magnolias. After the visit we went home to search for chocolate Easter eggs in the garden, some drinks and then a late lunch. We had sole filet prepared in 2 fashions : steamed and baked in the pan. We took some inspiration from Greek cuisine and served a Greek salad, tzatziki, baked patatoes and Orzo. For those who didn’t feel like fish there was chicken grilled on the barbeque. Before lunch we served various apetizers like olives, ansjovis and tortilla chips with home made guacamole. Besides the chocolate eggs we also had pie for desert. After lunch we were just in time to watch the finale of the De Ronde van Vlaanderen. Tadej Pogacar won again as expected and as expected a strong Wout van Aert didn’t manage to finish first but came in fourth after Tadej, Mathieu van der Poel and Remco Evenepoel. The weather got better near the end of the afternoon so we even could spend some time sitting in in the sun in the garden and talking as long as we kept our coats on.
