Rebel Ridge

Watched this movie on Netflix. Came across it by accident as I had never heard of it before. The movie is from 2024 and stars Aaron Pierre in the lead role as ex Marine Terry Richmond on his way to post bail for his cousin in a small town. The corrupt police force seize his money and following stand off between Richmond and the police chief (played by Don Johnson) spirals out of control very fast. The movie is a bit untypical for an action movie because there is not a lot of explicit violence nor a large body count. It is more a psychological thriller than an action movie. Watching the movie I was always anticipating, waiting for the inevitable ‘explosion’ of violence. I did enjoy watching the movie but it didn’t make an indelible impression. It is rated as 6.8 stars on IMDB which is about the score I would also give it. The movie duration is over 2 hours but it never feels that long despite the lack of standard action or fight scenes so I can only say it is well done.
