Another book I picked up in bookstore Dominicanen in July 2022. It is a cheap paperback edition and I have to say I have read better written books of this type of collection of short biographies. Somehow I found the biographies were too much a collection of facts without a soul that inspires. I came across a reference to this book while reading The Hot Zone, also from Richard Preston. I wrote another post about The Hot Zone earlier on this blog. Although The Hot Zone is a bit on the sensational side it was definitely well written so I decided to read First Light as well especially as this book is about astronomy which I like reading about. Movie number 5 and the final instalment in the Bourne franchise. This time again with Matt Damon as Jason Bourne. After many years we find Jason back hiding at the outskirts of the EU in Greece making money in street fights. He is approached by Nicky Parsons who has discovered secrets about his past while hacking the CIA. As a result of the hack the CIA hunts down Parsons and Bourne and after 3 movies we know how that will go. Limburgs Mooiste
Last Saturday I went to ride Limburgs Mooiste with my 12 year old son. As we only did 2 practice rides, one of 70k and another one of 80k in the weeks before we took the shortest 70k blue route. With all the hills around Valkenburg it would probably be challenging enough. About the distance we were confident as we managed the 80k in our neighbourhood without issues, including some climbs around Rotselaar and Aarschot. Went and watched the 2003 SWAT movie with Colin Farrell and Samuel Jackson, Michelle Rodriguez and Jeremy Renner again after seeing SWAT: Under Siege. Unfortunately the star cast doesn’t make it significantly better than the mediocre Under Siege. But it is also not worse. The movie doesn’t start of bad but as the finale unfolds it gets more and more incredible. First Farrell sees a trip wire in a tunnel filled with smoke and then he beats the arch enemy in a fight after he got his hand pierced by a Rambo knife. The movie doesn’t end there, with pierced…

SWAT: Under Siege
Watched this movie on Netflix some time ago. I watched the original SWAT movie with Colin Farell and Samuel Jackson. Compared to that movie this one is a bit of a low budget let down. It features Michael Jay White but he is acting like he only got paid half a salary. There are a couple of nice scenes but this is really B movie material. Sunday I was planning to go for another bike ride again but it didn’t materialise. Around 3:30 I decided that I had to do something pro active to compensate for the upcoming dinner which would include a lot of food and sitting at the table with some exercise so I went for a run. Maison Belge
Sunday we went for dinner at Maison Belge to celebrate a couple of May birthdays. We’ve been there a few times before and so far it was always a success. The kids opted out this time in favour of a home made pizza + Netflix movie evening. It saved us the worry that the dinner would take too long for them.
