Dining Experience at Villa Isabella in Omisalj

On our last evening at Omisalj we go for dinner at Villa Isabella. They have rooms but also a restaurant. Staff consists of an old German speaking lady waiting tables and some invisible(s) in the kitchen. Luckily the place is small so our orders are still served timely despite having to rely on only 1 person. The food is a mix of traditional dishes and fare catering for tourists, like pizza. According to one comment on Google this is the place to go for ‘best food ever’. This is highly exaggerated. There is nothing wrong with the food but there is also nothing exceptional about it. The host is very friendly though. But they only accept cash so be sure to have enough on you. Prices are OK, we had to check a little before ordering to make sure we had enough cash to pay the bill as we don’ t carry much cash typically. At Omisalj there is also a very small and charming village on top of the hill above the seaside which is worth a visit. There are some restaurants there as well that we didn’t test but looked inviting. Considering our mixed experience at the seaside we should have tried one of them and accepted the need to overcome a steep climb to get to the restaurant. We just went for a short walk up the hill to explore the village and to enjoy the view.
