Hotel Citymap and Jack & Joe Steak and Burger Club in Maribor

Our second stop on our way to Croatia was in Maribor. We stayed in the Citymap Hotel which has free parking and 2 low power charging stations. They didn’t work with my charging card which was one of the exceptions on our trip. But it did accept my credit card so I was able to charge overnight and we had a full battery in the morning for our last leg to Croatia. We had a family room which was spatious enough for 4. The view through the window was towards a backyard, not very beautiful but we arrived late and still had to go for dinner so that didn’t matter. Choice at breakfast was limited but what they had on offer was OK. We picked this hotel because it had reasonably priced family rooms and a place to park our car so the fact that breakfast was not exceptional was acceptable and expected. Reception by the staff was very friendly and they gave us some suggestions to go for dinner. We ended up picking Jack & Joe Steak and Burger Club. Because we were expecting rain we took the car into town. Had it stayed dry then we would certainly have walked the few kilometers. The hotel is close to the Drava river so it would have been a relaxing walk to the restaurant which is also next to the river. We hadn’t reserved and as it was a Friday evening the place was packed. But we could wait and after 15 minutes we got a table outside. Luckily we came by car so we could get some sweaters against the chilly evening air. As the name suggests this is a place for meat lovers but we took a combo of chicken wings and spare ribs which were very good but way too much. Still we were tempted to try out the tiramisu which was good but one portion could have served two. It was a bit unfortunate that it was raining and chilly. The restaurant is right next to the Drava so dinner outside at Jack & Joe on a summer sunny evening would have been a perfect start of the weekend.
