During our recent stay in Herresbach we went for dinner in Bleialf in a restaurant called Altes Backhaus. The host of the B&B where we were staying recommended this as good quality with typical regional food for a good price. I can confirm it was a good tip. The place was packed and we didn’t have a reservation but after a 5 minute wait a table was made available. A lot of local people seem to come here which is always a good sign. The furniture is traditional and you can get typical German fare with a lot of meat but they have also adapted to modern times and vegetarians and even vegan dishes are available. And they have a large choice of pizza as well. If you are staying for a longer period in the region then you can don’t have to fear that you will run out of choice on the menu card. I took the Grillteller with a mix of pork, steak and chicken. Luckily the meat portions were reduced but even then it took some effort from my side to eat it all. There was no room left for a desert. Food tasted good and the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed. Staff was attentive and friendly so really nothing to complain about.
