We went for a weekend to Vresse-sur-Semois. We rented a house with a group of friends and spent time catching up and going for a day hike. The village is close to the French border and nearby Rochehaut is probably better known. As the name suggests the village lies next to the river Semois. So one of the popular things to do is to rent a kayak and paddle downstream for some kilometers. There are many places along the river where you can get a kayak and typically you then can take a ride back to the starting point in a mini van. Although we saw many people in kayaks we didn’t go for this ourselves as itt was still rather cold. We opted for a walk of 16km we found on Komoot. It was varied and included a couple of steep climbs. The last section took us along the river which we crossed at the famous pont de claies. This is a temporary bridge of approximately 80 meters that is constructed every summer from twigs and is apparently the last one of its kind in the valley. It is a little springy but quite stable and safe. This gave the walk this little extra to make it unique.
