We spent a long weekend in London and staid at the London Marriott Maida Vale. We found this hotel looking for reasonably prices options in London. It is a bit outside the center and less expensive. Also, we could get a family room with 2 double beds which also reduced the price compared to places that force you to book 2 standard rooms. The neighbourhood is not exactly nice but we were a few minutes away from a underground station and we needed to switch only once to another line to get into the city center; taking in total a bit more than half an hour so quite doable. The first day in town we spent quite a long time walking around in a drizzle that managed to slowly get us soaking wet. So when we got back to the hotel in the evening and were looking for a place to eat we were not very keen on going out again. We had picked a place but when we got to the hotel lobby changed our minds and had dinner in the hotel restaurant. The choice was OK and my seafood linguini was good. The food was reasonable, not good enough to come back but certainly good enough not to regret having made the choice to eat there. The place did lack a bit of atmosphere. We also had our breakfast at the hotel and again it was OK but not super. Choice enough with the typical English breakfast style scrambled eggs, sausages and beans available but also yoghurt and fruit or croissants and pancakes. For a four star hotel the food was not exceptional but the room was good and we heard practically no noise from the hall or neighbouring rooms. We also god a fresh stocking of coffee, tea, chocolates and fortune cookies every day, no costs savings made there and the shower was a delight to use. I can definitely see myself staying here again.
