To continue our yearly tradition we went to Ter Helme again this year. The weather was reasonable, not too hot but still warm enough to go to the beach 2 times. On the Monday we went for a bike ride to Sint Idesbald. It had been a while since we went that way. On our bike trip we did have a bit of rain. We thought we could visit museum Ten Duinen while it rained but unfortunately they only opened at 2PM. Luckily they had some benches under a covered terrace so we could have our pick nick lunch there and while waiting for the rain to finish we played a game. Then we went for a drink at Brasserie Paul Delvaux. The next day we went to Plopsaland De Panne. The sun was really shining but luckily there were a lot of trees giving shade at Plopsaland so we could hide. At the entrance there is a square with a large fountain which was a real treat for all the little visitors that were completely soaked, no other attractions required. Our kids are too big for such simple fun but they did have a good day of fun on all the ‘adult’ attractions. We even got a couple of hilarious pictures for the family album for which we had to pay extra of course. The meagre 45 euro entrance fee didn’t cover such extras. In the evening we went for dinner in the Ter Helme restaurant. I had steak with fries which was really nice. When we got home on Wednesday we found a non responsive modem and no internet. After some rebooting etcetera I had to call our provider but they could only come the next Monday. In the end it turned out to be a fried network card in their network due to a lightning strike earlier in the week. With no internet and no tv we broke out a few dvd’s, played games and read books so the vacation simply continued at home.
