Die Hard with a Vengeance

Die Hard with a Vengeance, aka Die Hard 3. The movie came out in 1995 and stars Samuel Jackson and Jeremy Irons besides Bruce Willis. This third movie doesn’t follow the same concept of the previous 2 movies where all the action basically takes place in one building. Here the action is spread over New York and we find John McClane back sitting out a suspension by drinking too much alcohol. His suspension is cut short after the criminal Simon (Jeremy Irons) blows up a building and demands that McClane plays a little game of Simon says. Simon has McClane chase all over the city and answering riddles. If he fails to comply Simon will blow up another building. During his first task McClane is helped by Zeus (Samuel Jackson) and as a result he has to join McClane running all over town. Die hard professional McClane is joined by amateur Zeus and while killing bad guys and trying to save the city from Simon they both get to endure lots of physical violence. Of course they refuse to die. Compared to the previous movies the action is a lot more over the top and McClane survives blows and crashes that would be too much even for Captain America. The interaction between McClane and Zeus adds some welcome diversion from all the incredible violence they manage to survive. Jeremy Irons is a good villain but you will need a truckload suspension of disbelief to be able to really enjoy this movie. And it doesn’t get any better when watching a second time.
