Bowling Berkerijs

Since the beginning of 2023 we were saying we should go bowling with the family. Now with the easter holidays and no hockey training or matches going on we finally managed to find an evening to go and play a few games among the four of us. We went to bowling Berkerijs as it is nearby. We know the owners but this doesn’t play a big role as this is simply a very nice bowling alley. We went early Friday evening which was a good idea as it was not completely crowded and there were no birthday parties going on. Groups of kids having fun tend to make a lot of noise and if you have them in the lane next to you it doesn’t help with the concentration. But no such distractions this evening. Just the noise of bowling balls being thrown and the occasional shout when someone scored a strike. We played 3 games and had some drinks and snacks while playing and we all had a good time. I learned to play when I was 11 but I stopped playing more or less regularly when I went to university and it had been years since I played the last time so I didn’t have high expectations with respect to scores. Still, I managed to score 140 in one of my games which was not too bad considering my total lack of practice. I said half joking to the kids that when they are off living their independent lies I will take a membership and start playing more frequently again. I really like bowling. It is really a competition against yourself and it is al about concentration, precision and technique. Archery transformed and gamified.
