First k on Stromer ST3 Pinion

Early this week the odometer on the Stromer crossed the 1000km mark. It took a bit longer than expected due to a lot of bad weather. Too much rain when it was close to freezing. Not the ideal conditions for going +40 km/h on 2 bicycle tyres. Instead of enjoying a relaxing bike ride I had to spend time in traffic jams again. The covid times are definitely long gone on the roads. In a way it is a bit unexpected as many people can now partly work from home. More people working from home, more people taking the bike to work but also less people taking public transportation means no reduction in traffic jams. It is a new conservation law. Luckily the cold days are coming to an end so even in the rain the bike can be taken to work again. It is so warm again that I was sweating on the way to work this morning. Rain or no rain, the ST3 makes for a carefree ride to work. And the Pinion + carbon belt drive help me save a lot of time on maintenance. Because of the price I hesitated going for the Pinion ST3 but after half a year on the bike, often in rainy conditions I am so glad I did go for it. Maintenance free and with the gears still spaced close enough together to always find a comfortable one. Shifting is a little different and maybe a touch less smooth compared to a good derailleur system but nothing to complain about.
