More PlayStation Luck

After buying a new PS4 earlier in the year we had some issues with black screens while playing. We decided it was time to retire our 17 year old 50 inch Pioneer plasma tv and buy something new. The choice was between a LG or Sony OLED screen. Both had good reviews with LG having a better price for equal image quality. Nevertheless we ended up going for a Sony Bravia as it had some dedicated PlayStation features and acoustic surface with sound coming out of the screen which could be further tuned with Bravia cam so it adjusts sound depending on where you are sitting. Also the speakers from the tv could be integrated into our surround system to function as the center speaker. At first we were looking for a 55 inch A95K model which came out best in the reviews but we ended up buying a XR-A84K which was about 1000 euro cheaper. On top of the discount of roughly 400 euro compared to the official Sony price we got another 10 percent off as FNAC members if we bought it before the end of February. Sony was announcing its new 2023 range on March first and stores were probably getting rid of their old models. By chance it was a school holiday and I had taken the Friday off when I stumbled across this deal so we had to go and pick it up the same day or on Saturday. As we had visitors coming on Saturday that was not an option and we ended up spending half an hour in a traffic jam returning with the tv from the store. In the evening we decided to take the old tv off the wall mount and install the new Sony. It took some careful looking and thinking to figure out how to unmount the old tv but we figured it out. Once the Sony was fixed to the wall we plugged it in and were simply blown away by the vibrant colours. Our old Pioneer was still working but obviously a while past its prime. The black screens during gaming didn’t disappear however and only got fixed after getting some new high quality hdmi 2.1 cables to PS4 and tv to the surround receiver. That did the trick. I still have to integrate the screen into the system as center speaker and adjust a few other things but we are enjoying watching tv and gaming like never before. And because the new tv has a very slim frame it is actually not larger than the old one even though it has a 5 inch bigger screen diagonal. And it should be more energy efficient. As the Pioneer was still working we gave it away to an organisation that sells second hand things at affordable prices. Nothing but benefits so to speak, everybody happy.
