Daredevil

movie poster DaredevilWatched the Daredevil movie again recently. It came out 20 years ago in 2003 but visually it didn’t lose any of its flair and it doesn’t look 20 years old at all. It is more or less non stop action from start to finish so the story is a little thin and the character development limited. But as an introduction to the character it is OK and although Daredevil is a less famous super hero compared to others I personally like him much. He is a bit of a mix between Batman and Superman with superhuman senses and a daytime alter ego not unlike Clark Kent. Blind lawyer during the day, fear of the underworld at night. As said the characters are not very well developed but with a length of only 100 minutes it is not possible to cram in all the action and also give enough time to the story and the characters. Today, assuming a Batman like production budget this movie would run for 140 minutes probably. If you like Daredevil and want more drama then you can always watch the Netflix series. Here we have Ben Affleck as Daredevil in a nice interplay with Jennifer Garner as Elektra. The movie also features Jon Favreau as Foggy Nelso, Daredevils partner attorney. Colin Farrell is nice as the arch enemy Bullseye and Michael Clarke Duncan is the Kingpin, a role quite underdeveloped in the movie considering the importance of this persona in the Daredevil story. Not the best superhero movie for sure but still fun to watch with a likeable hero, a couple of despicably cartoonesk villains and a lot of graphic action.
