Two weeks ago we went to Antwerp to visit the recently reopened KMSKA. After the visit we walked along the river to the city centre and then went for dinner in Café-Restaurant Bourla. This is located behind the Bourla theatre on the Graanmarkt. It is located in an old luxurious building and when you enter the restaurant it feels like you step into another era. The interior adds to making the dinner experience a real night out. We were a bit early but decided to have a drink before we ordered our food. We were a party of 8 and had a large round table so we could talk to everyone which was also nice. The kitchen is half open so we caught a few glimpses of the activity in there.Staff was very friendly but near the end the restaurant was packed so we had to wait a bit to get our bill. No big deal really. The menu is has quite some traditional dishes but also modern influences so there should be something for everyone’s tastes. The food also tasted very good, a few of us had Bouillabaisse and a few others took the Poké bowl. The prices are reasonable and despite the prime location and the special interior this is not a restaurant for a restricted clientele. We were with kids and this was no issue. When we left a couple came in that had their faces made up nicely for Halloween, very fitting in this restaurant in the theatre neighbourhood. If I am in the neighbourhood again and need a place to eat I know where to go. Recommended.
