When I grew up the tv series of the A-Team played and I was a fan. But time went by and I forgot about it. Then a while ago while browsing the movie catalogue I came across this movie about the A-Team from 2010 and I was naturally interested. From the cast I only knew Liam Neeson (who plays Hannibal Smith) and Jessica Biel. A sequel was planned but cancelled because this movie didn’t do so well at the box office. Maybe because there were not enough stars in the line up, fans from the tv series didn’t believe the movie could live up to their child hood memories and those that didn’t grow up with the A-Team didn’t see a reason to go and watch it. I can only say I was positively surprised and this movie is well done. The core idea of a crack team on the run for a crime they didn’t commit stayed but apart from that the movie is a modern adaptation. Visually it naturally outclasses the old tv series and the action is up to modern day standards as well. The story of the movie stands by itself so it can be watched by anyone, no need to have previously watched the tv series. In terms of story telling and suspense the movie also scores well. This is just a good action movie with suspense and double crossing spies and fine actors in it. And it doesn’t take things too seriously. A pity they didn’t make the sequel.
