First rides in the wet with Pinion and carbon belt

With the weather turning wet I had my first couple of commutes in the rain on my new bike with Pinion gears and a carbon belt. On my previous bike a ride in such conditions would mean cleaning and greasing the chain again or suffering a screeching chain on the next ride with a loss off efficiency in transferring muscle power to motion. For that reason I went for a belt on my new bike. And I have to say the first experience doesn’t disappoint. No cleaning and greasing obviously and no impact at all on the ride quality or power transmission at all. The only part on the bike that did suffer a bit from the dirt were the disc brakes that needed a quick wipe. I was lucky that my son wanted to ride on the bike on our drive lane in the weekend so I asked him to quickly wipe the frame with a wet cloth and he took care of the disc brakes on his own initiative. The benefit of having a bike that looks like something out of Batman’s garage.
