Begonvil

With both of our kids away on summer camp activities we decided to go for dinner at Begonvil just the 2 of us. I had stumbled across it a little while ago looking for a place to eat on google maps. This mediterranean/Turkish restaurant is located in the centre of Keerbergen and serves a number of dishes that you may also find in Turkish and Greek restaurants. The interior is a little strange but that is probably due to the fact it used to be a bakery before at the same location and a traiteur before that. You can still come and get take away but most of the space is dedicated to dining in. Although we had reserved a table outside we ended up inside as the temperature had taken a bit of a dive that day. The hosts are very friendly and the food is good. We had mezze which we combined freely from the menu. This allows you to select only the ones you want and you can also eat as much or as little as you want. If half way through you feel that you didn’t order enough you can simple order more dishes. The food was good and we enjoyed a relaxed evening out. Because of the location I would recommend eating inside as the terrace next to the street isn’t very ‘charming’. Families with children are welcome as well, The only drawback is probably the low ceiling, if the place is packed then it might get noisy fast. But on the other hand it also means you don’t have to worry if you invited your loud uncle or one of the kids starts to whine a bit. A good option is you want good quality food in unpretentious surroundings. I plan to go back with the kids some time as they like Greek food.
