Today I went to pick up Hannelore from her Sportways Goalie camp at Xenios in Amsterdam. The camp ends at 1PM and no lunch is foreseen on the last day. As we didn’t have a lot of time we decided to stop at a restaurant on the highway. These are often poor quality but Scheiwijk on the A27 in Hoogblokland is actually quite nice. We ordered a club sandwich, a tuna salad sandwich and a double Big Boss burger. Everything is made to order and there was quite a queue so after ordering we had to wait 10 to 15 minutes for our meal to be ready. Everything tasted good, certainly if you have the average highway restaurant fare in mind. As the place was quite crowded we went outside and sat at a picknick table in the parking lot of the tank station. Not the most charming environment but OK and as the sun was shining not a problem. If it would have been raining we would have ended up eating lunch in the car. Maybe that is the only drawback of this location, there is only 1 standing table inside to eat your food. And the menu is not as complete as in a regular highway restaurant. What you lose in choice you get back in food quality.
