As mentioned in an earlier post I try to commute as much as possible on my speed pedelec. Unfortunately I don’t live in The Netherlands where they have quality bike paths. I am already happy if there is a bike path that I have to share with pedestrians. Not ideal on a speed pedelec but I have found a way around it that works for me : get out of bed half an hour late and start biking when school has begun, no more need to share with pedestrians. Worse is the fact that many bike paths are actually foot paths turned into bike paths and riddled with holes. Not that big a problem at 20km an hour but very taxing for the back at 40km an hour. Fortunately for me I follow the tech a little and when I had a problem with my conventional suspension seat post on my trekking bike I replaced it with a BodyFloat. The price was a steep 300 euro, so almost 3 times the price of the troublesome part it had to replace but what a difference it is. If you value things that ‘work’ then it is worth every cent. So, when I got my speed pedelec in 2017 the first thing I did after riding it without seat post suspension is order a BodyFloat. I remember I had to wait a bit longer than expected because they got the wrong seat post diameter version in and had to re order. In the mean time I have ridden more than 7000km on it and it still works perfectly, not even the slightest squeak heard, what a relief. And when I approach another wobbly patch I am more worried about my tyres and rims than about my back. If you are looking for some good seat post suspension I can highly recommend it. Nowadays they are called Kinect and you can find more info on CirrusCyles but check if you can test at your bike shop if you are worried if they are worth the money as they are not exactly cheap.
