Brasserie Klein Zoersel

Yesterday we went for a family dinner to Brasserie Klein Zoersel in Malle to celebrate some may birthdays in the family. The place is well known and the location is quite unique with the terras at the back looking out over the natural reserve ‘s Herenbosch, pond included. We sat outside on the terras next to the outdoor bar. The bar has a look vaguely resembling a mountain chalet. This all adds to a relaxed atmosphere and although the restaurant is located next to a big road we didn’t hear any traffic on the terras at the back. It was not very warm yet but the gas heaters more than sufficient to warm up the terrace. From a location point of view the restaurant meets all expectations. The food was a bit of mixed bag, some of our 8 person party had excellent food, others had a few trifles to quarrel over. Nothing major and if a Brasserie is the expectation then Klein Zoersel easily is top notch. If you are thinking high quality restaurant then the picture is not so convincing. Some dishes easily met expectations for that category as well but the overall experience was not uniformly positive enough. In any case we had a nice evening in a special setting and with good food. The location and reputation make it a bit too fashionable and trendy to my taste and the Ferrari and other expensive cars that we saw on the parking lot attest to the fact that Klein Zoersel attracts a well to do crowd that has ‘made it’.
