I stumbled across this movie on Netflix in Q3 or 4 of 2020 and I enjoyed watching it very much. I hadn’t heard of it or the comic book it is based on before so it was a pleasant discovery. I quite liked the performance of Charlize Theron as the troubled heroine. She looks quite different here compared to some other movies I saw with her and only at the end did I realise that it was ‘our own’ Matthias Schoenaerts that plays the role of Booker. Which only tells you I am not a great connaisseur of movie stars. I think you can categorise this broadly under Superheroes. The supervillain is in this case personified by a Big Pharma CEO, quite (un)appropriate (strike through as you see fit) in the covid-19 pandemic year. Even though the story follows a group of immortals there is quite a bit of tension and suspense. The violence is graphic but the bad guys are so wrong that you don’t have to worry about moral qualms as they get slaughtered by our heroine.
