A suitable topic for starting the new year. If you google this you’ll get many hits from sites with dietary advice and when you start browsing their advice you can eat and drink almost anything (at least that is my impression). Typically it boils down to drinking something containing lots of anti oxidants, smells like quackery if you ask me. Not surprisingly there also have been actual scientific studies done in this area so I tried to find some results on the internet. I found a couple, a Chinese, a Korean and an Indean study. Bottom line is that certain fruits and vegetables help with the breakdown of acetaldehyde which built up in your body during drinking (alcohol). The recent Indian study also did a test of tastiness and came up with a juice containing 65% pear, 25% sweet lime and 10% coconut water as the best tasting drink to tackle your hangover. I don’t think it is commercially available so you might have to make it yourself if your head can stand the noise of the blender. I am not an expert and I can’t vouch for the quality of the cited research but I know at least one alternative method that works : consume less alcohol.
