Daredevil Season 1

I recently watched the first season of Daredevil on Netflix. When I was a kid I read some Daredevil comics but he wasn’t that popular in Belgium. Most comics to be found in those days (translated in Dutch) were, surprise surprise, Batman, Superman and Spiderman. I also remember a few from Captain America. Didn’t like him that much then but I must say he grew on me and nowadays I’m a fan. Anyway, back to Daredevil. After having read a few comics it took another 20 ish years before I would ‘see’ him again : already more than 15 years ago now we had the movie with Bennifer which I liked mainly for the visual style even though the reviews were bad. Then another 8 years later came the iPad and with that a Marvel comics app that suddenly made a whole library of comics available that were only to be found in special shops in Belgium. So I started reading some of the old Daredevil comics digitally. Reading these stories is really traveling back in time with the old style graphics, stories and the dialogues from another age. It introduced me to a host of villains I had never heard of before and I started to see links with other superheroes in the Marvel Universe before the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe took off. And then came the series on Netflix a few years ago. Never looked at it until 2 months ago. I had started watching Jessica Jones, looked up where she fit in the timeline of MCU events and figured I should watch season 1 of Daredevil first. Which I did and I din’t regret the time spent. Visually well done with nice fight sequences and there is enough time to explore the ambiguity in the morals of all the main characters. No black and white pure good versus pure evil here. If you have Netflix and are into the MCU then you should definitely watch season 1. I heard season 2 is not so entertaining but I’ll have to struggle through season 1 of Jessica Jones first.
