People seem to constantly looking for enemies. And they are looking at the world very black and white. You are either for us or against us. Some claim it is the result of all the social media that lock us up in bubbles of opinions that we agree with, shielding us from dissent but I observe a spreading lack of being able to accept different opinions. Like Trump voters calling Fox News traitors when they didn’t agree with Trump on the massive election fraud. Another example that happened over the summer was the fuss about tweets from J.K. Rowling about sex and transgenders. The trans community position is that trans women are women and Rowling doesn’t fully agree I guess. Rowling is being vilified for being transphobic but if you actually read her blog post then it isn’t really about transgenders but about a piece of proposed legislation that could be misused by men pretending to be trans women. I doubt her fears are justified but anyway if someone should object to Rowling’s views then it are men. And trans men I suppose as they are also men, but the scenario of a trans man claiming to be a trans woman to go into a public toilet to attack women is … And then these reactions that she is ruining the Harry Potter legacy with her views etc. etc. . I doubt any of these tweeters really research all authors of the books they read to check if they have no offensive opinions they don’t agree with. If they do I will be very much surprised if they read a book at all. Which would explain a lot. If you got this far without hurling an unreadable book through your monitor, read for yourself here. Could be you read this differently and disagree with me but that is OK.
